Ported to WordPress

Monday, May 23rd, 2005

With an awesome display of focus, instead of adding content, I have taken this evening - or a few hours anyway - to port from blogger to WordPress. I have more than convinced myself that this was the right decision:

  1. As I didn’t read the license agreement when it popped up (some day I will share the excellent story of how RogueWave changed the licensing from royalty-free to big royalties on an upgrade without me noticing), I was unsure who owned my writings if I bloggered. On the outside chance that something intelligent eventually shows up here, I figured it would be better to be safe than sorry.
  2. I prefer products and tools that are useable “as is”, yet extendable. I also don’t mind free. Wordpress is pretty slick and powerful out of the box, is open source (gpl’d), and has an active community that seems to love writing plug-ins.
  3. I am a geek to the core and fill an ample percentage of my life with upgrades.
